Huset på Steinan

Steinan er en av SiTs mange studentbyer, og en av de nyeste i Trondheim, bygget i 1990-91. Den ligger pent plassert i kanten av Trondheim, nær Estenstadmarka. Steinan ligger i gangavstand til Dragvoll og Gløshaugen (for spreke studenter, i hvert fall), og det går buss til Gløshaugen tilpasset forelesningene. Det er omtrent 500 boenheter her, og alle er vanligvis bebodd.

Miljøet her er veldig bra, faktisk er vel Steinan den studentbyen i Trondheim der folk blir boende lengst. Vi har et fint aktivitetshus, betegnet av de som vanker der som “Huset”. Der skjer det noe de fleste dagene i uka. Huset er ikke til å unngå, det ligger midt i studentbyen. Vi har også en butikk som selger det enhver student trenger av mat og drikke; veldig praktisk. Ellers har vi den fineste sand-volleyballbanen i Trondheim. Den ligger oppe ved blokka, og blir flittig brukt i varmere perioder av året (f.eks. når man burde lese til eksamen). Med til slike perioder hører også vår store oppmurte grill, som blir flittig brukt. Studentbyen ligger også i nærheten av en lysløype for de som en interessert i å gå turer på beina eller på ski.

Steinan is one out of SiT’s many student villages here in Trondheim. It was built in the period of 1990-91, and is therefore the newest student village. Placed in close relation to Estenstadmarka, Steinan is situated on the outskirts of the city. This makes it easy for those that are interested to take a walk out in the nature or skiing in the winter. The student village is located within walking distance of both Dragvoll (approximately half an hour) and Gløshaugen (about 20-25 minutes). There are also good bus connections to both universities from Steinan. There are a total of around 500 living units in the student village and there are several different housing possibilities to choose from.

The environment at Steinan is very good. In fact, this is the student village where students tend to stay the longest. We have our own house for activities, known by the name of “Huset”, placed in the middle of the village, events taking place almost every day of the week. Next to Steinan you can also find a grocery store, Bunnpris, which sells almost everything a student needs for eating and drinking comfortably. In addition, we have our very own beach volleyball ground here, situated next to the blocks. This ground is in frequent use during the warmer parts of the year, especially when you rather should be studying for your exams. Another facility that is popular during the spring/summer season is our outdoor built stone grill*. This grill is in frequent use not only during the summer months, it is also suitable for nice barbeques in the winter months as well!
